2011 NFHR Norwegian Fjord filly
So it really was one of those impulse things, how Ms. Daffney came into our lives. She needed to leave where she was at, and I always liked fjords, I just thought they were the cutest little horses, and look awesome in front of a cart. Well, I'm not one who usually has good luck, but I did this time, I saw her ad right after it was posted, and harassed the phone number attached to the ad twice that night, as well as sending an Email. It was a Friday night. Never heard anything...so I assumed she was already spoken for. After all, I'm not known to have great timing.
My luck just got better Saturday morning, where I happened to get up earlier than I wanted to. My phone rings at 7:30, and thankfully I was there to answer it. It was about this fjord filly...he said he's had many inquiries, and was not home the evening he posted the ad, and since I was the first, he called me first. I set up a time later that morning to drive out to see her, trailer in tow, and cash in pocket. The minute I saw her from a distance, I knew she was coming home with us.... I must admit I didn't know much about fjords before buying her, I just liked them from a distance whenever I'd go to the Midwest Horse Fair. That was one breed I usually checked out. I had looked them up a few years ago...and their prices weren't reasonable for me...although not as expensive as some breeds, they were more pricey than your typical backyard trail horse. Daffey was just a once in a lifetime opportunity and I had to jump on her. Since having her, I'm learning that she is exactly what they say fjords typically are. She's loving and so sweet, and isn't phased by much. I haven't seen any spookiness in her with anything, she's curious and playful. She's quite different than foals who have been born here. She was weaned from her mom, had her first trailer experience, and taken to a new farm all in the same day. Also had her first stalling experience that evening. She took everything in stride. Daffey's quite a talker, she's always whinnying at me, but makes life a little interesting too. She enjoys playing in water, and I have yet to fasten a pail in a way that she can't tip it over. All over her stall. I am very happy to have her, I am absolutely crazy about her! Someday, I plan to drive and ride her....but she has lots of growing up to do yet....but learning takes place for her every day. I am just in love with this filly, and have high hopes for her future.
